Because its fun! It will be a lot of hard work, but it will also be some of the most memorable time we get as a family. Also, think of it this way by traveling for 3 months together, we will get an extra 6 months together that we would otherwise never get as a family. What would you give for this opportunity?
 
All you have to do to get an extra 6 months together is to travel for 3! its like getting a half-year bonus tacked onto your life. But not at the end; in the middle when life rocks!
 
We all know how rich and rewarding quality family time is - most of the time. The type of family time you get when on vacation. Well here is how you get the extra half a year together as a family:
 
When you are at home living day to day, you are busy with school, jobs, kids programs, socializing with friends (sometimes) and the general duties of keeping a household together. When you step back and look it, you get about 3 to 3.5 hours a day together as a family during weekdays and about 7 a day on weekends. Sounds too short, well it is.
 
So the average week at home gives you about 31 hours together. For some, this may be generous.
 
When you are traveling you get about 98 hours together. So every month away, you get an extra 2.2 months. Call it two months. In only 3 months traveling you are looking at an extra 6 months together that you would otherwise never get. It’s like buying an extra half-year to add to your life; and this is not even taking into account the quality of the time.

Some things in life are priceless. For us, time together as a family is one of them. This 3-month trip will effectively give us 9 months of time together. Ok so there is a cost to it, however can you really put a price on family time? What better way to slow it all down and drink up the good stuff than to triple your time together, time that will be unforgettable; amazing memories that will last a lifetime. Go traveling!

There are always reasons why not to do something. Especially something out of the ordinary that costs money. But the reasons you should go traveling as a family outweigh the other reasons. Trust me they do. Last time we went traveling, we both quit our jobs and took risk. It cost a bunch of cash and set us back financially, but it was the best decision we ever made. It may seem like you can't go traveling for a long period of time, but you can. There is always a way to make it happen.
